Collision Causes Brief Power Outage
Residents in the Milford area woke up Saturday morning to find there had been an interruption of electricity overnight.
The brief outage was caused when a vehicle struck a NIPSCO pole on Old SR 15, north of CR 900 North at approximately 12:10 a.m.
Indiana State Police report Richard K. Reece, 55, North CR 100 East, Warsaw, was southbound on Old SR 15 when his vehicle went off the road and struck a utility pole. The vehicle stopped in the middle of Old SR 15 facing northbound.
Reece, who complained of pain to the upper leg area, was trapped in his vehicle and extricated by Milford Fire Department. He was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment and a legal blood draw. According to the accident report, Reece tested .13 percent on a portable breathe test at the scene. A legal blood draw was taken at the hospital and authorities are awaiting test results.
Damage was estimated up to $25,000 to the vehicle and pole. Reece was cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
