UPDATE: Leesburg Man Hurt In Bicycle Accident
A Leesburg man is said to be hospitalized today following a Friday afternoon bicycle accident that left him with extensive head and facial injuries.
The Kosciusko County Fatal Accident Crash Team and Samaritan air ambulance were called to the accident on McKenna Road near Robert Lewis Drive, Leesburg, that occurred at 4:20 p.m. Friday.
Witness Stacie Koedyker told police she saw the victim, 50-year-old Daniel Robert King, of Leesburg, go head first over the handlebars of the bicycle he was riding and strike his head on the pavement. King was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and reportedly suffered serious head injuries. He was flown from the scene to a Fort Wayne hospital by Samaritan air ambulance.
StaceyPageOnline.com learned Saturday night that King had undergone surgery, but no additional information has yet been released.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and the F.A.C.T. investigated. Emergency personnel from North Webster EMS & Fire departments also responded. KCSD deputies stated that the incident is still under investigation pending blood/toxicology
results.
