Ostermann, Wender Claim Swim Titles
WARSAW – Jeff Ostermann and Rachel Wender conquered Center Lake and the competition Saturday to claim the top spots in the Warsaw Aqua Mile Swim.
Ostermann, of Fort Wayne, topped the field in the Swim Suit division in a winning time of 21:47.70 in the event held in Center Lake.
Wender, also of Fort Wayne, was the top female finisher and sixth overall in a time of 25:13.10.
The one-mile swimming competition was sponsored by the Center Lake Conservation Association as part of the Northern Indiana Lakes Festival taking place this weekend in Warsaw and Winona Lake. All proceeds from the race go to the Conservation Association and their efforts to keep the lake clean.
Jayden Parrett of Warsaw captured second place in a time of 22:41.30. Rounding out the Top 10 finishers were Mike Dolence of Knightstown (22:45.70), Ethan Cook of Warsaw (23:37.20), Joshua Miller of Warsaw (24:30.20), Wender, Jeffrey Berridge of Indianapolis (25:24.40), Staci Woolley of Syracuse (25:31.20), Erin Sandberg of Winona Lake (25:36.30) and Bart Benedict of Warsaw (25:50.80).
Thaddeus Borchers of Winona Lake was first in the Wet Suit race in a time of 25:39.40. Josh Wildman of Winona Lake was second in 28:19.20 and Christopher Frazzetta of Winona Lake third in a time of 30:13.40.
Brenda Worrell of Warsaw was the top female finisher and was sixth overall in a time of 36:46.30.
The Lakes Festival concludes Sunday. Events tomorrow include a 5K run/walk in Winona Lake.
