Cocktails For Cancer
Support the local Cancer Care Fund and have fun at the same time at the Kosciusko County Care Cocktails for Cancer from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Oakwood Resort, 702 E. Lake View Dr.
A resort tour will be available along with light appetizers and a cash bar. The dress for the evening is lake casual and will include a cash bar and light appetizers.
The event is sponsored by the Community Outreach Committee of Cancer Care Fund of Kosciusko County, formerly known as Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund.
Cancer Care Fund of Kosciusko County assists those in the area who have cancer and is a real lifesaver for many. No one can explain this better than local volunteer Sandy Green, “I am chairing the community outreach committee of the Cancer Care Fund of Kosciusko County. We are working to raise awareness of a local charity for which the funds are raised solely by volunteers and all the funds raised go to the victims of cancer and their families to get them through economic disaster which often accompanies the tough fight.
“The funds go to pay for things that are not covered by insurance, i.e. rent/mortgages, utilities, car payments, health/life insurance, gasoline for trips to treatment and doctors appointments, food certificates/supplements, prescriptions, car insurance, car repairs, motels, home insurance/repairs, wigs/prosthesis and many other things. Last year we spent $239,398.06. We raised approximately $140,000 with our three annual fundraisers, Idol Nite, golf and gala. As you can quickly see, at this rate the reserves will be used up quickly.”
She continued, “K-21 administers our funds. There is a board which qualifies applicants for need. K-21 makes the payments where needed. They do this at no cost to the fund. K-21 also is a 501(c)(3) corporation so our donors get the benefit of tax deductions. If you are like me, you look for charities with the lowest percentage of administrative cost and the highest percentage going to those in need. This is the highest I have ever found and it all stays in Kosciusko County.
“Everyone purchasing a ticket will be entered into a raffle. Some of the raffle items will be a night at the Oakwood Inn including dinner for two, two hours of pickle ball lessons by a certified instructor, and other gift certificates and gift cards.”
Tickets can be purchased at Green and Cates or Todd Realty in Syracuse or North Webster.
