Area Tracksters Honored For Academics
A plethora of area track performers have been honored for their academic achievements as all-state by the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches.
A total of 13 athletes from the Warsaw girls and boys track teams received accolades from the coaches.
Seven members of coach Scott Erba’s team were honored.
The quartet of Ashley Erba, Madeline Hooks, Sam Jensen and Jamie Lacheta all earned Academic All-State honors.
The trio of Claire Hickerson, Sarah Ray and Abby Schue were each honorable mention selections.
Six members of the Warsaw boys track team received honors for their work in the classroom.
The quartet of seniors Taylor Cone, Nate Kolbe and Jake Poyner and junior Ellis Coon earned Academic All-State accolades for coach Matt Thacker’s team.
The duo of seniors Taylor Anderson and Tim Perkey were accorded honorable mention honors.
Wawasee senior Emma Donahoe was also an all-state choice.
The Whitko trio of seniors Holly Frantz, Becca Thomson and Stephanie Wheeler received all-state honors too.
The minimum requirements for honors is at least a 3.5 GPA and a 1,200 SAT/120 PSAT score.
