Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accident:
Wednesday, May 29, 11:04 a.m. North Parker Street and U.S. 30. Drivers: Larry B. Schmidt, 71, EMS B40 Lane, Leesburg; and Alan K. Teel, 44, LeClere Street, Ligonier. Schmidt was southbound on Parker Street behind Teel. Schmidt failed to realize Teel had stopped for the traffic light and collided into the back of the vehicle. Damages: up to $10,000
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Wednesday, May 29, 4:16 p.m. South Packerton Road, Warsaw. Driver: Michael W. Hardy, 60, East 900 South, Claypool. Hardy said he felt ill and passed out, causing his vehicle to leave the road and drive into a deep embankment. Hardy refused medical treatment. Damages: up to $10,000
Wednesday, May 29, 4:37 p.m. East 500 North and North 675 East, North Webster. Drivers: Arthur D. Needler, 70, EMS T13B Lane, Leesburg; and Dannie W. Hurd, 42, East 600 North, North Webster. Needler was eastbound on CR 500 North and, according to witnesses, slowed quickly to make a left turn onto North 675 East. Hurd was behind Needler and a second vehicle on a motorcycle. He tried to brake to avoid hitting the second vehicle, which he could not do quick enough, so he went around the second vehicle and collided with Needler’s car, which was turning. Hurd and a passenger on his motorcycle, Mary J. Perzanowski, 46, of Syracuse, were both transported to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne by ambulance. Hurd may have suffered internal injuries and Perzanowski suffered an elbow injury. Damages: up to $10,000
