Warsaw Boys, Girls Track Highlight All-NLC Lists
GOSHEN – The Northern Lakes Conference issued five of its official All-Northern Lakes Conference lists Wednesday, as well as its NLC All-Sports trophy final tallies for the 2012-13 boys and girls sports seasons.
Lists for boys and girls track, softball, girls tennis and boys golf were released by Larry Kissinger, NLC Secretary. Baseball will be announced at a future date as NorthWood is still active in the state tournament.
All-Sport Trophies
Northridge claimed the girls title with 123 points, winning NLC titles in soccer, cross country, tennis, softball and swimming. Warsaw were second at 107 points, having won golf, basketball, track and volleyball titles. NorthWood had the only other NLC title claim, splitting the golf title after winning the NLC tournament while Warsaw won the regular season round robin. Wawasee were eighth with 53 points, its best team finishes coming in third place ties in golf and swimming.

Warsaw edged Northridge, 119-110, for the boys title. The Tigers were conference champs in tennis, cross country, track and golf. Northridge claimed hardware in swimming and baseball. Concord, which claimed titles in soccer, basketball and football, were third with 109 points. Plymouth took football honors and shared wrestling titles with Memorial while NorthWood tied Warsaw in golf. Wawasee’s best finish came in a third-place tie in swimming.

Girls Track
Warsaw ran undefeated at 7-0 and had the names to boot, taking 12 All-NLC spots. Making the list for the Lady Tigers were Sam Alexander, Megan Dearlove, Nicole Eckert, Jackie Ferguson, Mariah Harter, Ann Harvuot, Sam Jensen, Megan Kratzsch, Jamie Lacheta, Sarah Ray, Brittney Rhodes and Tennie Worrell. Northridge, which were second at 6-1, had six All-NLC and two Honorable Mention All-NLC winners. Wawasee had Jordan Edington make All-NLC and Jen Slabaugh Honorable Mention All-NLC. Scott Erba of Warsaw was named Coach of the Year.

Boys Track
Warsaw continued its dominance in the NLC on the track with a 7-0 round robin and a steamroll in the NLC championships. Heading the All-NLC list for the Tigers were Seth Fouts, Gabe Furnivall, Wyatt Jones, Nathan Kolbe, Tristan McClone, Robert Murphy and Jacob Poyner. Taylor Cone was named Honorable Mention All-NLC. Wawasee, which won three duals, had Clayton Cook and JJ Gilmer make All-NLC while Ethan Brown was Honorable Mention All-NLC. Warsaw’s Matt Thacker was named Coach of the Year.

Boys Golf
A medalist showing from Warsaw’s Will Petro at the NLC tournament landed him on the All-NLC team, along with teammates Jonny Hollar and Jon Schram. The Tigers were 6-1 in round robin, losing to undefeated NorthWood head-to-head but winning the NLC tourney. Tiger Tim Ahlersmeyer and Wawasee’s Luke Jackson were among the Honorable Mention All-NLC performers. Co-champs NorthWood had three of its starting five make the lists. Brad Duerkson of NorthWood was tabbed Coach of the Year.

Softball
Four Lady Tigers and four Lady Warriors made the respective lists in softball. Ashley Ousley, Kayla Snider and Kaleigh Speicher were All-NLC and Karly Jones Honorable Mention All-NLC for Warsaw while Madi Anderson, Alli Ousley and Kylee Rostochak were All-NLC and Kylie Norris Honorable Mention All-NLC for Wawasee. Undefeated champion Northridge dominated the list with five All-NLC and two Honorable Mention All-NLC performers. Raider coach Bo O’Dell was the Coach of the Year.

Girls Tennis
Warsaw nor Wawasee had any performers make the All-NLC lists in tennis. Champion Northridge had three named to the list while upstart Goshen, which lost its only match to Northridge, placed five on the list. Goshen’s Daniel Love was Coach of the Year.
