Warsaw Parks Announce Free Activities
Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department is kicking off summer with free events for children and families. Up first are free Kids’ Corner events and a free community canoeing event.
Beginning Wednesday, June 5, the parks will host a free weekly Kids’ Corner program that will run from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. each Wednesday at the Pete Thorn Center, 800 N. Park Ave., Warsaw.
The parent-child program for ages 3-7 will be full of activities, crafts, stories and more, all related to the weekly theme. The theme for June 5 is Jammin’ and Dancin.’ A representative from Deb Collier’s School of Dance will join the parks department for the program. The theme for June 12 is Health Me, and the American Red Cross will join the program with its Scrubby Bear program.
No registration is required.
On Saturday, June 8, the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will host free community canoeing at Lucerne Park on Pike Lake. Canoes and equipment will be available to use from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis for timed increments.
No registration is required. however, each participant must have an annual waiver on file before participating. Waivers must be signed by a parent for participants under age 18.
Other canoeing dates are planned for the summer at Center Lake Beach on June 25, July 13, July 23, Aug. 6 and Aug. 24.
