North Webster Memorial Day Services Held
North Webster American Legion Post 253 held Memorial Day services as scheduled in all of the town’s local cemeteries, except North Webster. That service was held inside the gym at the North Webster Community Center.
The service featured a moving musical tribute to fallen heroes by Russ Chandler, along with members of Post 253, Sons of the American Legion, Legion Auxiliary, Boy Scouts and the community. The parade was cancelled due to rain.
Traditional memorial services with 21 gun salutes were held at Thorn Cemetery, Salem Cemetery, Mock Cemetery and the American Legion Post.
Pastor Gary Colby spoke about service and sacrifices of the members of the American military services to provide freedom for those fortunate enough to live in the United States. Russ Chandler presented an emotionally moving rendition of patriotic songs with the assistance of community members. Wawasee Middle School Band also performed.
Lunch was served by the North Webster American LegionĀ to all participants and members of Post 253 following the final ceremony.
