Warsaw Community High School is pleased to announce the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of the Class of 2013.
The Valedictorian is Timothy Carl Ahlersmeyer. Tim is the son of David and Shelley Ahlersmeyer of Warsaw. He plans to major in accounting and finance and minor in economics. He will be attending Butler University.
While a student at Warsaw, Tim participated in varsity golf all four years, was in KYLA, Business Professionals of America where he went to State, and National Honor Society.
Fulfilling Warsaw Community Schools mission statement to “inspire and equip all students to continuously acquire and apply knowledge and skills while pursuing their dreams and enriching the lives of others,” Tim and his KYLA partner participated in the prom for senior citizens. Tim also participated in the 40 Days for Life public initiative. In June he is going on a mission trip to Ukraine.
The Salutatorian is Alek J. Jansen. Alek is the son of Dr. Leo and Carol Lyn Jansen of Warsaw. He is accepted into a special program at Northwestern University which is an accelerated study program. He will graduate with 3 degrees – Integrated Sciences, Applied Physics and Applied Math. He hopes to go on to graduate school in medicine, university teaching and research or consulting work.
While a student at Warsaw, Alek has been honored as an Academic All-Star, National Merit Finalist, Academic All-State tennis, AP scholar with Distinction, Business Professionals of America 3rd place at nationals in entrepreneurship category, Indiana Association for the Gifted Scholarship winner and participated in the Academic Superbowl and theater.
Fulfilling Warsaw Community Schools mission statement to “inspire and equip all students to continuously acquire and apply knowledge and skills while pursuing their dreams and enriching the lives of others,” Alek was the founder of the Boomerang Backpack program in the Warsaw Community Schools which packs a backpack each weekend for those elementary students who might not otherwise have nutritious food and snacks over the weekend.
Warsaw Community Schools and Warsaw Community High School are very proud of both of these young men, both for their academic accomplishments and their service to our community.
