Fairfield, which upped its mark to 14-3 this season, stormed out to a 9-0 lead after three innings and never looked back. The Falcons and Warriors are set to face one another in the first game of the 3A West Noble Baseball Sectional on May 22.
Reece Miller scattered six hits to earn the win for the Falcons while Derrick Sorensen was touched up for nine of the 10 Fairfield runs scored in three innings of work. At the dish, Sorensen was able to double twice.
Wawasee (3-16) will lace up the cleats again tomorrow in a NLC showdown at Concord.
Offense was on display in the JV game as Wawasee and Fairfield combined for 29 hits, but the Falcons made its opportunities count more in a 22-12 win over the Warriors. Jordan Currie and Sam Rookstool both had two hits and drove in a run apiece for the Warriors, now 10-6 overall.
The Wawasee ‘C’ team used a run in the eighth inning to take a 7-6 lead against Goshen Tuesday night, only to give up two runs in the bottom of the inning to lose 8-7. Wawasee had scored two runs in the seventh to tie the game ahead of the eighth inning heroics.
Rozen Kunkle had a double and two RBIs while Todd Hauser added two hits, one being a two-bagger. With the loss, the Warriors fall to 2-6 on the season with a home game Thursday against Concord next on the docket.
