Teel Tough In TRC Track Championships
WABASH – The Tippecanoe Valley and Whitko girls track teams each put up strong performances Thursday night at the conference meet.
The Vikings earned a second-place finish and the Wildcats captured third in the eight-team Three Rivers Conference Championships contested at Southwood High School.
Rochester won the team title with 121.5 points. The Vikings were second with 115 and the Wildcats third with 103.5.
Sophomore standout Caylie Teel turned in several big performances to lead Valley. Teel won both the 100 (13.20) and 200 (27.61) meter dashes. She also teamed with Karis Tucker, Jazzmine Brown and Catherine Leadford to win the 4 X 100 relay title in a top time of 52.70.
The Vikings also took top honors in the 4 X 400 relay race as the team of Brown, Leadford, Lexi O’Connell and Breelyn Conley won in 4:18.74.
Senior Josie Sparks was the top performer for Whitko Thursday night. She placed second in both the 200 and 400 and was fourth in the 100.
Elizabeth Hardesty was second in the pole vault for the Wildcats and Taylor Zwick was second in the long jump. The 4 X 100 relay team of Cagney Craig, Reghan Craig, Zwick and Holly Frantz also placed second for Whitko.
Rochester took top honors with its 121.5 points, followed by Valley (115), Whitko (103.5), Manchester (95), Wabash (66), Northfield (59), Southwood (48) and North Miami (9).
