Stouder Stars As Wildcats Win
WABASH – The Whitko boys track program continued its dominant run in the Three Rivers Conference Thursday night.
Thanks in large part to a dominating night by Connor Stouder.
The Whitko senior standout won three individual events to lead the Wildcats to the team title of the TRC Meet contested at Southwood High School.
The Wildcats piled up 117 points to top runner-up Rochester, which finished with 112.
It was the sixth straight TRC title for coach Ron Cherry’s program.
Stouder was the star of the night as he won the 100 (11.33), 200 (22.92) and 400 (50.70) events. For good measure, he teamed with Tyler Sherwin, Brady Herendeen and Kuyler Bailey to claim the top finish in the 4 X 400 relay race in 3:33.96.
Sherwin, also a senior, turned in a big night as well for the champion Wildcats. He won the 300 hurdles in 43.09 and ran on both the winning 4 X 400 and 4 X 100 relay teams. Sherwin teamed with Michael Carroll, Herendeen and Trace Killian to win the 4 X 100 in 46.06.
Derrick Cunningham led the efforts for Tippecanoe Valley Thursday night. The junior won the high jump title with a jump of 6-1 and took first in the long jump competition with a top effort of 19-07.25.
Nolan Sponseller was second in both the 200 and 400 for the Vikings. Michael Thacker was second in the 100 for Valley.
The Vikings finished in sixth place in the final team standings with 59 points.
Whitko won the title with its 117 points, followed by Rochester (112), Manchester (94), Northfield (90), Southwood (82), Tippecanoe Valley (59), Wabash (46) and North Miami (20).
