Syracuse Public Library Announcements
Summer is around the corner and the Syracuse Public Library Friends annual membership drive is starting. Membership renewals can be brought or mailed to the library. Please include an email address if possible.
The Syracuse Library Friends are offering some fun volunteer opportunities to help with community outreach. The library could use some assistance on Friday, May 17, when the library is putting out tables to give people a place to sit down during the Cruisin’ Car Show.
Volunteers can help the library do more out of schedule activities so, if you are willing to help for an hour or two, call Becky Brower at 457-3022 or email [email protected]. Interested people can place their name on the volunteer list to receive updates of upcoming volunteer possibilities. Volunteering is a wonderful way to connect with other book and library loving people.
Children’s Department
The Children’s Department has 50 new books about the United States of America. Pick a state and look at the pictures and pages that are full of facts about the many features that are unique to the state. Supplement the book experience with a code for online activities. The media enhanced books and online resources are a fun way to learn about the United States and the use of a variety of media.
The Syracuse Library has a new site for ebooks for children. Patrons link to www.esebco.com and enter a code and their Syracuse patron number to read from the special selection of books. The nice thing about Sebco Online Books is there is no waiting for a book to become available because multiple users can read the books at the same time.
The monthly Kidz Book Club will meet from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 14. Children from kindergarten to fifth grade are welcome to join an evening of reading, games, and snacks. The guest reader this month is Mrs. Pat Eldridge.
The library may be reached by calling 574-457-3022.
