Hollar Keys Two Tiger Golf Wins
ELKHART – Jonny Hollar didn’t do anything flashy for the Warsaw boys golf team Thursday night.
He just made sure that the No. 5 Tigers got two more wins in Northern Lakes Conference play.
The sensational sophomore shot a one-under 35 over nine holes as Warsaw posted a team score of 155 to nip Northridge by one shot in league play at the Bent Oak Golf Club. Host Concord shot 167 in the NLC triangular.
Hollar finished with eight pars and one birdie as Warsaw improved to 3-0 in conference play.
Senior Tim Ahlersmeyer shot even par 36 for coach Ben Barkey’s team, which improved to 76-3 overall this spring in all competitions.
Evan Cultice and Will Petro each fired a 42 for the winning Tigers. Senior Jon Schramm came in with a 44 from his No. 1 position in the deep Warsaw lineup.
Brandon Eckert shot a 39 to lead the Warsaw JV team to two wins. The Tigers posted a 167, while Northridge was at 187 and the Minutemen at 232.
Josh Ahlersmeyer fired a 42 for the JV Tigers in the pair of league wins. Ryan Cultice and Reid Cameron each checked in with a 43 and Jacob Foster shot 46 for Warsaw. The Tigers JV is now also 3-0 in NLC play and 35-10 in all action this season.
The Warsaw varsity squad will play in the Culver Academies Invitational Saturday. The Tiger JV will take part in the Westvilel Invitational Saturday.
Warsaw plays at McCormick Creek in Nappanee on Tuesday versus NLC foes NorthWood and Goshen. The Tigers then host Plymouth and Elkhart Memorial Thursday at Stonehenge in the final league match of the regular season. The NLC Tournament is set for May 18 at the Maplecrest Country Club in Goshen.
