Penn once again beat Wawasee in the annual triangular that included LaVille Monday at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club, the Kingsmen posting a 157 to Wawasee’s 163. LaVille brought up the rear with a 179.
Connor Buckman had a spectacular round for the Kingsmen, firing an even-par 35, assisted by a 38 from JT Schwartz and 39 by Nick Thurin. Brady York tossed in a 45 to round out the Penn scores.
Wawasee had a 37 from Jeffrey Moore, but fell off the Penn pace with a 41 from Luke Jackson, 42 by Tristen Atwood and 43 from Mason Germonprez.
LaVille had a 36 from Zach Gurtner in the number one position, but lost ground on the field with a 42 from Cam Gurtner, 46 by Zach Hostettler and 55 by Dustin Royer.
“Obviously, Jeffrey played very well,” began Wawasee head coach Steve Coverstone. “We didn’t play great as a team because we had nine holes of double bogey or more. The greens gave us some trouble.”
Penn’s JV also stood tall, winning with a 161 to Wawasee’s 182 and LaVille’s 235.
Wawasee will get right back at it today with a home Northern Lakes Conference opener against Warsaw. Tee time is set for 5 p.m.
