Concordia Continues Wawasee Woes
FORT WAYNE – It was a week to forget for the Wawasee baseball team. After losing three tough Northern Lakes Conference games during the calendar week, Wawasee moved out of conference for a visit to Fort Wayne and Concordia High School.
The trip had Wawasee take an early lead in the first inning but give up single runs to Concordia in the third, fifth and sixth innings of a 3-1 loss to the Cadets.
Drew Anderson was 2-3 with a double and run scored to pace Wawasee, now 3-11 on its campaign. Anderson also swiped a pair of bases. Aaron Voirol pitched nobly for five innings, giving up just two runs. Zak McLaughlin and Brian Gremaux both had doubles to lead the Cadets.
Wawasee has now lost four straight games heading into its Monday contest against NorthWood in Syracuse.
An eight-run eruption in the first inning by Wawasee’s JV put a lighter spin on the bus ride home, as the Warriors (7-3) won 11-4 over Concordia’s junior squad.
Colin Beer and Drew Wright both had two hits and combined for five runs scored. Sam Rookstool added a pair of runs scored to help the cause.
