George P. Garber
George P. Garber Jr., 82, of North Manchester, Ind., passed away at 1:15 a.m. Friday May 3, 2013, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
On Dec. 31, 1930, he was born in Warsaw, Ind., to George Paul and Mabel (Long) Garber Sr. He married Bonnie Paxton in 1967, who preceded him in death in 1994.
George moved to North Manchester in 1959 where he worked for Eaton Controls, where he retired in 1992. He was also a member of Saint Roberts Church, North Manchester. George served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1953 and then served in the Indiana National Guard.
He is survived by one stepdaughter: Sandra K. Kline, North Manchester; one daughter: Sally Jo Berget, Florida; one brother: Dave (Carol) Garber, Warsaw; two sisters: Ruby Jo (Larry) Clark, Warsaw, Ind.; and Virginia Schue, Warsaw; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son: George Paul Garber III; two brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, May 6, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Home, Warsaw. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Hontz officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with military honors by the American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
