Panthers Take Down Warriors
NAPPANEE – NorthWood gave up little ground in a 5-0 shutout of Wawasee on the girls tennis courts Thursday afternoon in Northern Lakes Conference play.
The one doubles team of Kennedy Walter and Tori Schwartz signed a clean sheet, beating Priscilla Par and Sam Prins love and love to lead the way for the hosts. The two doubles team of Taylor Stutzman and Alaina Donegan were just about as good, cruising past Natalie Fritz and Molly Smith two and love.
NorthWood’s singles play were strong on all three courts. Emily Hoffman picked up the pace in a 6-3, 6-0 win over Esther Hermann at one singles. Sydney Wysong was nearly perfect in a 6-1, 6-0 roll of Katy Ashpole at two singles and wrapping up the ledger was Megan Reed’s two and love run of Jada Antonides at three singles.
NorthWood posted all five triumphs on the JV courts with singles wins by Kaitlyn Swihart, Baily Miller and Yadira Figueroa against Jaclyn Miller, Chelsea Carolus and Jazlyn Gehlhausen.
Lorraine Hakes and Madison Sheline were pushed to the limit from Ashley Larson and Krissa Keaffaber before pulling out a two-point win. Betsy Mikel and Mikayla Bley paired to beat Brooke Fick and Katie Kuhn.
Wawasee (3-7, 0-6 NLC) will participate in the Angola Invite this Saturday.
