Mary Lou Welty
Mary Lou Welty, 81, of Etna Green, Ind., passed away at 10:12 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, Ind.
She was born Aug. 3, 1931, at Churubusco, Ind., to Carlton Forrest Johnson and Olive Pittman Johnson. She has been a resident of Etna Green most all of her life and a graduate of Etna Green High School in 1949. She was a homemaker and a member of Etna Green Church of Christ.
She enjoyed her family, and was a volunteer who helped start the Hospital Auxiliary at Kosciusko Community Hospital. She enjoyed expressing her talent with her paintings, authored two books, was an avid gardener and she loved to cook.
On Sept. 18, 1949, she married Lowell Welty who survives.
She is also survived by seven children: Pamela (Jack) Tharp, Noblesville, Ind.; Lana (Dave) Hilker, California; Lou Augustine, Warsaw; Eve (Chris) Scheibe, Mt. Vernon, Wash.; Eric and Lisa Welty, Pierceton, Ind.; Brad and Rhonda Welty, St. Charles, Miss.; and Brett and Michelle Welty, Littleton, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister: Joanne Parker, Warsaw; and three brothers: Dennis (Barbara) Johnson, Etna Green; Max Johnson, Tennessee; and Glenn Johnson, Etna Green.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister: Sue Ann.
Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 3, at the Etna Green Church of Christ, 206 W. Broadway St., Etna Green. Funeral services will follow Friday at 3 p.m. in the church with Pastor Jordan Ickes officiating. Burial will follow in the Etna Green Cemetery at Etna Green.
