Bremen Business Offers Discount For Food
Michiana residents will have the opportunity to make a little “dough” when they donate non-perishable food items at Horse Saddle Shop in Bremen throughout the month of May.
Through Saturday, May 11, Horse Saddle Shop in Bremen, in connection with the Letter Carriers Food Drive, will offer customers a 1 percent discount for every one pound of food donated at their Bremen store.
“This is important to us,” said Trent Miles, marketing manager at Horse Saddle Shop. “We have been blessed to find success in the same community in which we live and work. We are excited to give back when we have the chance.”
According to a press release issued by the National Association of Letter Carriers, the Letter Carriers Food Drive is “the nation’s largest single-day food drive, and is held annually on the second Saturday in May in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam.”
On Saturday, May 11, Letter Carriers will collect non-perishable food items as they deliver the mail along their routes. Residents are encouraged to leave a bag of these items next to their mailbox before delivery that Saturday.
“It is easy to forget about something like this until it is too late to give” stated Miles. “Our hope is that, by providing customers an incentive to act before May 11, we might collect a little more food than would have been possible otherwise.”
Now through May 11, customers can drop off non-perishable food items at Horse Saddle Shop in the Bremen Shopping Plaza during normal business hours where they will receive a 1 percent discount for every one pound of food donated (up to 10 percent).
