Ferguson Fantastic As Warsaw Rolls
WARSAW – The Warsaw baseball team made short work of Elkhart Memorial Monday night.
Jason Ferguson made sure of that for the host Tigers.
Senior Ferguson fired a three-hitter as the Tigers clubbed the Crimson Chargers 10-0 in five innings in Northern Lakes Conference action.
Ferguson struck out five and walked three for the hosts.
Warsaw, now 5-6 overall and 4-3 in the NLC, wasted no time Monday. The Tigers scored five runs in the home half of the first inning. Warsaw scored two more in the second frame and three in the third inning to complete the shutout.
Senior Josh Frantz had a big game for the Tigers. He had three hits, all doubles, to go with four RBI and three runs scored in the rout.
Senior Jared Lemler had a hit and two RBI for Warsaw. Junior Brandon Shipp had a hit and scored three runs for the Tigers.
Senior Shay Hepler, juniors Michael Miller and Caleb Moneyheffer and sophomore Tyler LaFollette each had one hit for the winners.
Scottie Clark took the pitching loss for Memorial, which drops to 7-8 overall and 4-2 in the NLC.
The Warsaw JV team defeated Memorial by a 9-3 final. Nick Light had a home run and a double and Austin Marsillett two doubles to lead the Tigers. Zach Witt notched the pitching win as the JV Tigers improved to 8-4 overall and 5-2 in the NLC.
Warsaw hosts Wawasee and Memorial entertains Plymouth in NLC action on Wednesday.
