Miller, Concord Run Past Wawasee
DUNLAP – Jenny Miller did it with her bat and arm in Concord’s 8-2 win over Wawasee Monday.
Miller was 3-3 at the dish and scored three runs while holding Wawasee, which scored 20 runs in a pair of wins Saturday at Lakeland and East Noble, to just two runs on eight hits. Miller struck out five Lady Warriors in her complete game.
Sabrina Scherer was 2-3 at the plate for Concord, driving in two runs and scoring two of her own. McKenzie Loge cracked a pair of hits and drove in three for the winners. Concord and Wawasee were tied at two in the fourth, but the Minutemen (7-3) scored six unanswered runs in the next three innings to pull away.
Kylee Rostochak had a two-run double to account for the tangible offensive for the Lady Warriors (5-6, 2-4 NLC) while Kylie Norris and Alli Ousley added two hits each. Allissa Flores added a double for Wawasee.
Ousley was the tough luck loser for Wawasee, giving up 10 hits and seven earned runs while striking out five.
The Wawasee JV cranked out another 16 hits, led by three apiece from Bethany Hapner and Alexis Graber, to get past Concord 8-5. Hapner scored two runs and Graber one run for the victors, now 6-1 on the season. Lyric Lambright earned the win in relief, working four innings of assistance.
Wawasee will return to duty Wednesday in a home grudge match with Warsaw.
