Warsaw Sports Wrap – April 27
JV Golfers Earn Fifth Place
Will Petro led the way Saturday as the Warsaw juior varsity boys golf team placed fifth in the Lafayette Jeff Invitational.
Petro fired a round of 80 as the JV Tigers shot 334 in the 16-team event.
Brandon Eckert shot an 82 for the Tigers. Josh Ahlersmeyer finished with an 85, Jacob Foster 87 and Reid Cameron 94 for Warsaw.
Carmel won the tournament title with a team score of 319. Center Grove was second with a 321, followed by Floyd Central (322), Fishers (324), Warsaw (334), Cathedral (334), Nobesville (340), Avon (357), Zionsville (360), Brownsburg (366), South Bend St. Joseph (372), Park Tudor (381), Plymouth (391), North Central (392), McCutcheon (430) and Lafayette Jeff (455).
Champion Roberts Leads JV Tennis Team
Shelby Roberts earned a first-place finish at No. 3 singles Saturday to lead the Warsaw JV girls tennis team to a fourth-place effort in the Jim Clark JV Tournament at Penn.
Roberts topped Kendall Eme of Marian 8-3 in the title match at No. 3 singles.
Camille Kerlin and Anna Hall teamed to place third at No. 2 doubles for the Tigers.
Blair Findlay captured fifth place at No. 1 singles and Sydney Hartman was seventh at No. 2 singles for Warsaw. The No. 1 doubles team of Abbi Baum and Mallorie Stiver took fifth place.
South Bend St. Joseph won the team title with 57 points. The Penn A team was second with 41, followed by Penn B (34), Warsaw (30), Northridge (25), Marian (22), Goshen (9) and Elkhart Central (2).
Warsaw hosts Homestead Monday.
