Warsaw Splits Twinbill At Valpo
VALPARAISO – The Warsaw baseball team earned a split Saturday in a non-conference twin bill at Valparaiso.
The Tigers took the opener 8-5 in eight innings before the Vikings responded to win the nightcap 4-0.
Warsaw scored three runs in the second inning and two more in the fourth in the opener to build a 5-0 lead. Valparaiso rallied with two runs in their final at-bat in the seventh to tie the contest at 5-5.
Michael Miller led Warsaw in the win with two hits and two RBI. Jason Ferguson also had two hits and Josh Frantz drove in a pair of runs for the Tigers in game one.
Justin Oberlin notched the pitching win in relief for the Tigers.
Warsaw managed just four hits in losing the second game. Shay Hepler led the Tigers with two hits.
Warsaw, now 4-6 overall, hosts conference foe Elkhart Memorial Monday at 5 p.m.
