Warsaw Ladies Win Relays Title
KOKOMO – Another Saturday.
Another relays championship for the Warsaw girls track team.
Scott Erba’s talented and deep squad made it three titles in a row Saturday at the Kokomo Relays.
The Tigers won seven of 15 events and had every relay team and individual score points in an outstanding all-around team effort.
Warsaw, which won the Churubusco Turtletown Invitational April 20, piled up 149 points to outdistance runner-up Noblesville (124) to win the event for the seventh time in the last eight years.
The Tigers had three individual champions and won four relay events en route to the title.
Senior Sarah Ray won the 3,200 for Warsaw in a time of 11:31.85. Junior Ann Harvuot captured first in the 100 in 13.06 and junior Jackie Ferguson topped the field in the 100 hurdles for Warsaw in 16.95.
The team of Harvuot, Ferguson, Megan Kratzsch and Tennie Worrell won the sprint medley relay (200-200-400-400) in a top time of 2:59.55.
Warsaw also won the 400 relay with the team of Mariah Harter, Sam Alexander, Brittney Rhodes and Harvuot in 50.25.
The 400 shuttle hurdle team of Elise White, Rhodes, Katie Voelz and Ferguson also won in 1:07.40.
The foursome of Harter, Nicole Eckert, Rhodes and Ray won the medley relay (200-400-800-1,600) in 9:13.7.
Sam Jensen took second place in the discus and Brooklyn Harrison was second in the shot put to highlight field events competition for the Tigers. Jamie Lacheta captured second in the high jump and Megan Dearlove placed third in the pole vault for the Tigers.
Brittney Rhodes (100 hurdles), Claire Hickerson (pole vault), Abby Schue (high jump), Emily Stouder (3,200) and Hannah Dawson (1,000) each earned fourth-place finishes. Hickerson also took eighth place in the long jump.
Brooke Rhodes placed fifth in the 1,000 and Sam Alexander was sixth in the 100. Gabby Monroy placed sixth in the discus and seventh in the shot put and Courtney Farling was sixth in the long jump for the champions.
The Tigers also had a pair of relay teams place second. The mid-distance (400-800-400-800) squad of Kratzsch, Madeline Hooks, Worrell and Dawson was runner-up in 7:07.88. The foursome of Audrey Rich, Alexander, Aundrea Robinson and Claire Kehler was second in the 9th grade sprint medley relay (200-200-400-400) in 3:10.53.
Warsaw won with 149 points with Noblesville second with 124, followed by Kokomo (92.5), Northwestern (52), Marion (43), Western (30.5), Peru (24) and Richmond (14).
Warsaw, 5-0, will look to complete an undefeated conference season Tuesday night at Northridge versus the host Raiders and Wawasee.
