Altrusa Club President Earns Governor’s Award
Altrusa International of Warsaw’s President, Sue Creighton, was honored at Altrusa’s 57th District Six Annual Conference in Carmel on April 20. Creighton was presented the Governor’s Award by 2011-2013 District Governor, Toni Ellis of Lexington, Ky., during the organization’s award luncheon.
The award annually honors one Altrusan in the three-state District 6 area for his or her exemplary participation and service in local, district and international events and projects as well as their local community service. To qualify an applicant must have been a member of Altrusa for at least 10 years.
In honor of the award, a $500 donation has been made to the Altrusa International Foundation in Creighton’s name.
In addition to serving as president of the local club, Creighton has served for two years as the District’s Communication Chair. At the same time, she served as District Brand Ambassador assisting clubs in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky with the transition to the organization’s new logo and branding processes. She also participates at the international level for the 2013-2015 biennium as a member of the International Leadership Development and Training Committee.
Creighton was also elected as a director on the board for Altrusa’s District 6 under 2013-2015 District Governor Linda Barb, Muncie. She will visit and assist clubs in the district and will handle the District’s Altrusa Store during the next two annual conferences.
Creightonis a retired vice president for Sprint’s United Telephone North Central operation and also served as a vice president at Lake City Bank. She has participated on many local boards and is presently vice president of the Beaman Home, a shelter for the abused, founded by the local Altrusa Club in 1985.
Altrusa is an international non-profit organization making their local communities better through leadership, partnership and service. Annually the organization serves over 1 million community service hours.
