TPS Intern’s Work Is ‘Tremendous Help’
Wawasee High School senior Tori Lambright is serving an early childhood development internship during the spring trimester at Teen Parents Succeeding in Syracuse. The internship is through Wawasee High School’s Professional Career Internship Program.
While serving at TPS, Tori works under the supervision of Trish Miller, coordinator of the high school’s Work-Based Programs, and TPS Lead Caregiver Margaret Grady.
Tori chose to serve her internship at TPS because, “I like kids and people said it would be fun. I babysit a lot,” she said. When asked what she enjoys most about her work at TPS, she replied, “I enjoy how happy the kids are.”
Tori plans to attend Ivy Tech after high school graduation and study criminal justice. She is interested in pursuing a career in either law enforcement or youth service. The 18-year-old lives in Syracuse with her family and also works part-time at McDonald’s. She enjoys art in her spare time.
Director Janet Weirick stated, “We’re glad that Tori chose TPS to serve her internship. Her assistance is a tremendous help to us.”
Founded in 1991, Teen Parents Succeeding is a non-profit support organization that helps teenage parents in the Wawasee School District stay in school and complete their education. In addition to other support services, TPS operates a licensed childcare facility that provides low cost childcare to student parents while they attend school and work.
