Warsaw Softball Squad Rolls To Win
WARSAW – The Warsaw softball team made its two straight wins in a big, big way Friday night.
The Tigers routed Plymouth 14-4 in five innings in Northern Lakes Conference play at WCHS.
The league contest was originally scheduled to be played at Plymouth, but was moved to WCHS due to wet field conditions.
Warsaw, which won 9-0 at Goshen in NLC play Wednesday, scored a run in the first inning and six more times in the second frame. The Pilgrims scored all four of their runs in the second inning.
The Tigers, now 2-4 overall and 2-1 in the NLC, plated seven runs in the fifth inning to win the contest by the 10-run rule.
Senior Kayla Snider had a huge game at the plate for the winners. Snider went 4-4 with a home run and four RBI for the Tigers.
Senior Ashton Warren went 3-4 with two RBI and junior Ashley Ousley was 3-3 with two doubles and two RBI for the Tigers.
Junior Kaleigh Speicher collected the pitching win, striking out four and walking two in improving to 2-3 in the circle. Speicher also had a home run and a double and drove in two runs. Sophomore Karly Jones added a double for Warsaw.
Warsaw is scheduled to host Valparaiso today (April 20) at 11 a.m. The Tigers then host NLC foe NorthWood Monday at 5 p.m.
