Tigers Storm Past Goshen
WARSAW – The Warsaw baseball team brought the thunder to the diamond Wednesday night.
The host Tigers beat the storms in storming past Goshen 9-1 in Northern Lakes Conference action.
Jason Ferguson turned in a big night for Warsaw as the Tigers won their second straight game. The senior went the first five innings on the hill to collect the pitching win and also drove in four runs in the conference victory.
Ferguson allowed just four hits in his five innings of work. He struck out four and walked just one.
The Tigers, who improve to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in NLC action, scored three times in the second inning. The hosts added two more runs in the fourth frame and four in the fifth inning.
Junior Caleb Moneyhoffer also came up big at the plate for the Tigers with three RBI and two runs scored in the lopsided victory.
Sophomore Tyler LaFollette had a pair of hits, including a double, and scored two runs for the Tigers. Junior Michael Milleralso had two hits for the Tigers. Senior Jared Lemler scored two runs for Warsaw.
Junior Justin Oberlin went the final two innings in relief of Ferguson for the Tigers. Coach Mike Hepler’s squad had opened NLC play Monday with a 6-0 win at Wawasee.
Sylas Buller, who took the pitching loss, led Goshen with two hits. The Redskins drop to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the NLC.
Zach Witt pitched the Warsaw junior varsity team past Goshen 3-0 Wednesday. The freshman fired a one-hitter for the host Tigers. Sophomore Austin Perdieu slugged a three-run homer in the first inning for Warsaw, now 5-0.
Warsaw is scheduled to host NLC foe Plymouth Friday.
