Warsaw Track Ladies Rout Redskins
GOSHEN – The Warsaw girls track team put on a dominating performance Wednesday night to overwhelm Goshen.
The Tigers won every event en route to defeating the host Redskins 101.5-16.5 in Northern Lakes Conference action.
Coach Scott Erba’s team improves to 3-0 overall and also 3-0 in the NLC on the season.
The meet was stopped during the 3,200-meter run due to thunderstorms and lightning in the area. The 3,200 and the 1,600 relay events were not contested as the meet was called.
Ann Harvuot won both the 100 and 200-meter dashes to pace Warsaw to its third lopsided win in conference action. Harvuot won the 100 in 12.67 and claimed the 200 in 26.59.
The Tigers also got individual wins on the track from Alise White in the 100 hurdles (17.16), Sarah Ray in the 1,600 (5:22.70), Cynthia Yoder in the 400 (1:06.28), Megan Kratzsch in the 300 hurdles (53.72) and Hannah Dawson in the 800 (2:31.06).
Warsaw won the 3,200 relay as the foursome of Brooke Rhodes, Aletheia Burritt, Madeline Hooks and Dawson took first in a time of 10:20.54. The 400 relay team of White, MaKenzie Williamson, Audrey Rich and Courtney Farling won in 54.89.
The Tigers placed 1-2-3 in both the long jump and high jump events to highlight their performances in the field events.
Sam Alexander won the long jump at 15-3, while Claire Hickerson placed second and Farling finished third.
Jamie Lacheta cleared 5-3 to win the high jump competition for the Tigers. Brittney Rhodes took second place and Abbey Schue was third.
Senior Sam Jensen won the discus with a top throw of 117-8. Johvana Cervantes won the shot put for Warsaw with a toss of 35-3. Megan Dearlove took first place honors in the pole vault by clearing 9-3. Hickerson placed second in the pole vault and Gabby Monroy was third in the discus for the Tigers.
Warsaw will compete in the Churubusco Relays on Saturday, an event they won in 2012. The Tigers then travel to Concord Tuesday to face Elkhart Memorial and Concord in NLC action.
