Harter, Beilein To Speak At IBCA Clinic
INDIANAPOLIS – Warsaw’s Michelle Harter is one of a dozen prep basketball coaches scheduled to speak at the 2013 IBCA Spring Clinic.
Harter guided the Warsaw girls basketball team to a 24-2 mark during the 2012-13 season. The Tigers won the Northern Lakes Conference championship and also claimed Class 4-A Concord Sectional and Valparaiso Regional titles before losing 47-44 to Fort Wayne South Side in the Warsaw Semistate.
Harter, who played on a state runner-up team for Wawasee High School in 1985, is 80-31 in her five seasons as head coach at WCHS. Harter, who has been at WCHS for 22 seasons overall, has also been chosen to coach the Indiana Junior All-Star team this summer.
The IBCA Spring Clinic is set for April 26-27 at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis. Cost to attend is $50 for current IBCA members and $100 for non-members.
Harter, who was the IBCA District 1 Coach of the Year, is scheduled to speak on the topic of 2-3 Zone Defense and Breakdown Drills on April 27. Also scheduled to speak is Plymouth boys basketball coach Ryan Bales, who guided the Pilgrims to a Class 3-A sectional championship during the 2012-13 campaign.
John Beilein, the Michigan men’s basketball coach, is one of the featured speakers for the Clinic. Beilein guided the Wolverines to a runner-up finish in the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
Also scheduled as featured speakers are Jim Crews, Curt Miller and Marty Simmons. Crews is the men’s basketball coach at Saint Louis Universiy, Miller the women’s coach at Indiana and Simmons the men’s coach at Evansville.
