Environmental Action Week April 20-26
Environmental Action Week is April 20-26 and the Kosciusko County Recycling Depot, 220 S. Union St. in Warsaw, has a week of events lined up.
Special hours during the week will begin Saturday, April 20. Saturday’s hours will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hours for Monday, April 22, through Friday, April 26, will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. All merchandise in the Eco Store will be 15 percent off all week.
Special events this Saturday include “Story Time With Mother Earth” at 10 a.m. Meet Mother Earth and decorate an earth cookie. At noon, sign up to win a composter while Master Gardener Amy Brown explains all about composting. There will be door prizes, snacks and informational booths all day.
Workshops throughout the week include a Blue Jean Craft Night from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, April 22. Participants will be shown how to make some simple blue jean crafts. From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, April 25, learn how to Detox Your Home and make your home healthier. Participants will receive a free cleaning ingredient. Special collections throughout the week include:
Tire Recycling – Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. First two tires are free Saturday only. Tire collections will also be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, April 22, through Wednesday, April 24, and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, April 25. Prices those days are cars: $1; trucks: $5; and tractors: $15 to $25.
Secure Paper Shredding – Free from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20.
Electronics Recycling – Special discount of 2 cents per pound and anything under 24 pounds is free.
Blue Jeans Recycling – Collecting clean, used blue jeans from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 20.
