State Rep. Rebecca Kubacki (R-Syracuse) offered a House resolution this week honoring the 2013 State Superintendent of the Year, Dr. Craig J. Hintz.

Dr. Hintz, superintendent of Warsaw Community Schools, was chosen by the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents.

“Dr. Hintz got right down to business and took charge,” said Rep. Kubacki. “That’s what it takes to get a school from good to great. I’m so glad I have the opportunity to honor Dr. Hintz.”

During Dr. Hintz’s time as superintendent of WCSC, the school district has received numerous awards and recognitions, including being selected by the Indiana Department of Education to receive the state’s largest innovation grant to create an elementary school science, technology, engineering and mathematics academy.

Warsaw Community School Corporation has also implemented courses in dance, culinary arts, additional Advanced Placement and dual credit courses have also been added.

In terms of high school, graduation rates have increased 12 percent and the school corporation has been ranked 11th in the state for growth under Dr. Hintz.

“Since the beginning of his teaching career in 1969, Dr. Hintz has been a model example of a Hoosier educator. I am pleased to be able to recognize him for his hard work and accomplishments,” said Rep. Kubacki.

As the 2013 Superintendent of the Year, Dr. Hintz will represent Indiana in the American Association of School Administrators National Superintendent of the Year program.
