YMCA Spring Classes Starting Soon
Kosciusko Community YMCA will be starting spring classes on April 8. Classes will run through May 26.
Classes in Youth Development will include sports classes for preschoolers, swim lessons, and gymnastics classes for all ages. Classes that promote the Healthy Living aspect of your Y will include group exercise classes at both the Smith Street and North Webster branches, classes for older adults and water aerobics in both the Warm Water and Lap Pools.
All group exercise, cycling and water aerobics classes are now included with a Y membership. Registration for these classes starts March 18 for Y members and March 25 for everyone and can take place at the North Webster or the Smith Street branch or online.
In partnership with the Wabash County Tobacco Free Coalition, the Y will be hosting Sensational Cessation to help adult tobacco users quit the habit, using a diet and exercise program. The class will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Contact Stacy Thomas with any questions at 574-269-9622.
IU Health Goshen Hospital will be partnering with the Y to offer free Type 2 diabetes risk assessments for children age 5 to 18 to determine if the child is at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. If your child is overweight or has a family history of diabetes, come learn what you can do to lower your child’s risk and keep your family healthy. The test is free from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 20.
The Y will be offering American Heart Saver First Aid/CPR/AED Training to train you to be able to recognize the signs and respond quickly and appropriately in the case of an emergency. The class includes a student book and 2 year certification. Classes will be from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. April 23, or 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The annual YMCA Ladies Fashion Show will be held at Center Lake Pavilion from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 9. This is a chance to get together with friends for lunch, entertainment and the latest fashions. The show will feature clothes from Carson’s. There will be lunch and door prizes.
