Steven Joe Hochstetler
Steven Joe Hochstetler, 51, of Nappanee, Ind., died at noon Friday, March 8, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital, where he had been a patient since Tuesday. He had been ill with cancer for 2 years.
He was born July 9, 1961, in Elkhart, Ind., to Ernest R. and Mary Edna (Chupp) Hochstetler. On November 10, 1983, in Nappanee, he married Etta Fern Schwartz.
Mr. Hochstetler had lived his lifetime in Nappanee. He had worked at Challenger Door and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He is survived by his wife: Etta Fern; daughter: KaLynn (Joel) Mast, Nappanee; sons: Karl Dean (Melissa) Hochstetler, Mishawaka, Ind.; Brian Eugene (Edna) Hochstetler, Nappanee; and Michael Ray (special friend, Lillian Hochstetler) Hochstetler, Timothy Adam Hochstetler and Joel Devon Hochstetler, all at home; grandchildren: Amy Rose, Eric Lavon, Lydia Jayne and Lucas Joe Hochstetler; his parents: Ernest and Mary Hochstetler, Nappanee; sisters: Lorraine (Mark) Stutzman, Regina (Larry) Chupp and Amy (Virgil) Yoder, all of Napanee; and Sherry (Allen) Borkholder, Linda (Fred) Milller, Dianna (Eddie Ray) Borkholder and Vonda (Daryl) Yoder, all of Bremen, Ind.; and brothers: Ray (Leona) Hochstetler and Michael (Linda) Hochstetler, both of Nappanee.
Family and friends may call after 3 p.m. Saturday, March 9, and all day Sunday, March 10, at the family residence. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 11, also at their residence. The Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate and burial will be in Weldy Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Slabaugh, Daryl Borkholder, Anthony Chupp, Delbert Slabaugh, Duane Yoder and Joe Reigsecker.
