UPDATE: Bicyclist Struck By Vehicle
At 11:58 a.m. Saturday, March 9, a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle on Frontage Road near Taco Bell in Warsaw. Medics, police and fire officials responded to the scene.
According to Warsaw Police Department’s Lt. Kip Shuter, the bicyclist, Stevie Jefferson, 58, of Pierceton, was traveling west on Frontage in an eastbound lane. As Katharine Seppa, 37, of Warsaw, turned east onto Frontage from an access road, she struck Jefferson. According to Shuter, Seppa was unable to see Jefferson on his bike due to the fact he was traveling in the incorrect bicycle lane on Frontage Road.
Jefferson, who was not wearing safety equipment at the time of the crash, was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for abrasions to his head and complaints of minor pain in his left thigh. Witnesses stated Jefferson was breathing but unresponsive following the crash. By the time medics arrived, Jefferson was standing and alert.
