Bauer attended Grace College in Winona Lake and graduated from Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis, with honors in 1991. Since graduation, Bauer has been employed at Lavender & Bauer P.C. of Warsaw until the death of his partner, Jay L. Lavender, in January 2013.
For the last 22 years, Bauer has practiced law in Kosciusko and its surrounding counties and is admitted to practice law in the state of Indiana and the federal courts of the Northern and Southern districts of Indiana.
Bauer is a Kosciusko and city of Warsaw resident and has been involved in the community serving on the boards of Heartline Pregnancy Center and Kosciusko County Right to Life/Right to Life of Northern Indiana and the City-County Athletic Complex. Bauer has also served as the Warsaw Community High School varsity men’s soccer assistant coach since 1999. He is married to Julie Bauer and has two children.
