March 2 marks the 109 birthday of beloved children’s author Theodor Seuss Geisel. To commemorate the event, Wawasee elementary schools celebrated his birthday today.

Several guest readers read to students in the elementary schools. Don Harman, principal at Wawasee High School, is shown reading the Dr. Seuss book “Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?” to kindergarten students in the classroom of Bill Lantz at Syracuse Elementary School.

In addition to it being the birthday of Dr. Seuss, Harman said he took the opportunity to read to kindergarten students hoping to make connections between elementary students and the high school, as well as to promote the importance of reading. He also read to kindergarten students at the elementary schools in Milford and North Webster.
