Blue Öyster Cult Headlining Rock Concert
American rock band Blue Öyster Cult has been confirmed as this year’s headliner for the Classic Rock Concert in Warsaw’s Central Park.
Hailing from Long Island, N.Y., the band is best known for hard rock favorites such as “Don’t Fear The Reaper,” “Godzilla,” and “Burnin’ For You.” Blue Öyster Cult has sold more than 24 million albums worldwide.
The Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety this morning approved the $24,000 contract to bring in the band for the Friday, June 14, concert in the park.
Also approved was blues artist Mike Milligan. Milligan, known for his “gritty and soulful” vocals and guitar talents, will open for the Blues & BBQ concert set for Friday, June 28, also at Warsaw’s Central Park. Headlining the Blues & BBQ concert will be Nick Moss.
For the Country Concert in Central Park on Friday, July 19, Joe Diffie was announced last month. (See story) This morning, artist Josh Thompson was approved as the opening act.
Also of note, Michael Kelsey and the Junk Yard Band were approved for the Central Park Concert Series on June 21 and Aug. 9, respectively.
On Sunday, Sept. 7, the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will also host an event for area teens to showcase their own musical talents. The event will be held at the Warsaw City Hall Plaza in downtown. Brian Fravel of Pro Audio Services was contracted for sound production.
The next B.O.W. meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 15.
