UPDATE: Cromwell Man Serious After Crash
Pierceton Fire Department and Multi-Township EMS were called at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday to SR 13 and Shoop Road where a crash occurred resulting in one victim being ejected from a vehicle.
Sgt. Chad Hill of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department released information this morning noting the victim, Michael T. Maskow, 37, of Cromwell, was taken to Parkview Hospital where his condition is today listed as serious.
Samaritan air ambulance was immediately called to last night’s scene, but due to light freezing mist in Fort Wayne was unable to fly. Initially it was believed Maskow sustained an ankle injury, but Hill said hospital authorities have since determined Maskow also suffered internal injuries. “They are going between serious and critical as far as his condition at this time,” said Hill.
The Kosciusko County Fatal Accident Crash Team investigated and this morning determined that Maskow was northbound on SR 13 when he crossed the center line of the highway while exiting the curve at Shoop Road. The 2003 Dodge truck he was driving left the west side of the road, drove into a ditch, which it struck a drainpipe and a mound of dirt. The impact sent the truck airborne and causing it to roll several times.
A legal blood draw was requested as F.A.C.T. findings indicate alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
