NLC Announces All-NLC Basketball Lists
The Northern Lakes Conference has officially released its lists for the boys and girls basketball teams for the 2012-13 seasons.
The girls basketball team is headlined by three members of the champion Warsaw team, which just finished its season Saturday evening in a IHSAA 4A Semi-state loss to Fort Wayne South. The Lady Tigers, which were 6-1 in the NLC, had seniors Lindsay Baker and Jennifer Walker-Crawford as well as junior Nikki Grose make the first team. Warsaw head coach Michelle Harter was named Coach of the Year.
Wawasee senior KiLee Knafel was also named to the first team as the only member from the Lady Warriors, which finished 1-6 in the NLC.
NorthWood and Northridge, which tied for second in the conference at 5-2, had two members each on the first team in Haley Schrock and Morgan Miller from Northridge and Savannah Bley and Morgan Olson from NorthWood. Madison Schrock of Northridge and Jordan Frantz of NorthWood were named Honorable Mention All-NLC performers.
Elkhart Memorial and Plymouth both had three players make the list, Goshen two players and Concord one player.
The boys list has two Tigers and one Warrior honored. Warsaw senior Jared Bloom was named an All-NLC performer, leading his club to a 3-4 NLC record while classmate Taylor Cone was an Honorable Mention All-NLC player. Sophomore Alex Clark was named to the Honorable Mention All-NLC list for the winless Wawasee ballclub.
Concord, which were 7-0 in conference play and 19-1 overall heading into the Elkhart Central Sectional, had four players – led by senior Franko House – named to lead all teams. Junior Ramon Johnson and sophomore Filip Serwatka were All-NLC while junior Adam Glanders was Honorable Mention All-NLC for the Minutemen. Head coach Steve Austin was named Coach of the Year.
Plymouth, which tied Memorial and Goshen with 4-3 NLC records, had three players named to the lists while Memorial and Goshen each had two. Northridge and NorthWood, which tied Warsaw with a 3-4 conference result, both had two players each named to the All-Conference tallies.
