Larwill Man Critical After Sunday Crash
Alcohol and excessive speed are believed to have caused an early morning crash that critically injured a Larwill man.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies and emergency personnel responded at 12:36 a.m. today to the intersection of SR 14 and Packerton Road where Jeffery Reiff, 25, was ejected from his vehicle after it struck an embankment, went airborne, struck a utility pole and rolled several times.
Reiff was airlifted by Samaritan helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, in critical condition. A passenger in his car, Brian Lardino, 25, of Silver Lake, was transported from the scene to Kosciusko Community Hospital in fair condition.
Kosciusko County Fatal Accident Crash Team determined Reiff was eastbound on SR 14 when his vehicle left the south side of the roadway near the intersection of Packerton Road. Reiff overcorrected which resulted in the crash. Reiff was not wearing a seat belt. Lardino was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
F.A.C.T. members say the crash is still under investigation pending legal alcohol/drug lab results. Reiff was still listed in critical condition at the time of this release.
