Accidents
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Friday, Feb. 22, 4:42 a.m. North SR 15 north of Plum Street, Leesburg. Drivers: Angela M. Frost, 40, South CR 425 West, Claypool; and Khristopher M. Freed, 30, South Nappanee Street, Nappanee. Frost was northbound on SR 15 and lost control of her vehicle on the ice covered road. Her vehicle slid over the center line and into the path of Freed, who was southbound. Frost was unhurt. Freed sustained a large laceration to his scalp and was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment. Damages: up to $25,000
Friday, Feb. 22, 4:42 a.m. North SR 15 north of Plum Street, Leesburg. Drivers: Keith J. Vuittonet, 26, E. U.S. 30, Pierceton; and Christopher A. Blake, 38, East Main Street, Warsaw. Blake was northbound on SR 15 when he observed another accident occur in front of him so he slowed and stopped in northbound lane of SR 15. Vuittonet was also northbound on the highway and noticed Blake’s vehicle stop, but due to road conditions he was not able to stop in time and slid into the rear of Blake’s vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damages: up to $25,000
Thursday, Feb. 21, 8:07 a.m. 5614 E. 900 S., Sidney. Driver: Austin C. Sturgess, 16, East 900 South, Claypool. Sturgess said he was running late for school and traveling too fast. He drove over railroad tracks and his vehicle slid on loose gravel and into a utility pole. Damages: up to $5,000

Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following incidents:
- Feb. 21, 1:17 p.m. Eisenhower Elementary School in Warsaw reported that a car drove through the school fence, through the yard and then left the scene.
- Feb. 20, 2:22 p.m. Debra Bissell of Syracuse reported a check had been written, signed and cashed by an unknown person.
- Feb. 20, 5:36 p.m. Cameron Phillips reported a lost wallet.
- Feb. 20, 6:14 p.m. A custody complaint was reported in Leesburg.
- Feb. 19, 4:30 p.m. A Warsaw woman reported her husband missing.
- Feb. 18, 12 a.m. Jessica Protzman of Warsaw reported her checkbook stolen from her vehicle.
- Feb. 17, 12 a.m. Jay Hocking of Warsaw reported fraudulent use of his debit card.
