Webster Executes Land Lease
North Webster Town Council approved the execution of the draft of the land lease for its farm and approved contracts with two firms for the second of five lift stations the town is building for the sewer system. The council met in regular session Tuesday night.
The final step in the land lease for the farm property the town owns was completed with J. and M. Roberts Farms of Syracuse, with approval of the draft execution.
The lift station contract of $37,803 for the equipment and $7,291 for the installation of the new lift station was given to Gasvoda Inc. of Columbia City. Hoosier Tree Service, North Webster, had the low bid of $800 for the trees around the lift station and it was approved by the council. Both of these items were in the utilities department report given by Service Manager Mike Noe of Severn Trent Services, which is contracted by the town to run the utilities and street department.
Police Chief Greg Church reported 178 calls of service for January with the most being agency assists for the fire and EMS and citizen assists. Officers drove 3,716 miles using 277.5 gallons of fuel and worked 707 hours.
Also in attendance of the meeting were council members Tim Hine, Lisa Strombeck and Jon Sroufe, and clerk-treasurer Betsy Luce and town attorney Jack Birch.
The next meeting of the council will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the North Webster Community Center, 301 N. Main St.
