Grace’s Grimm Earns Defensive Honor
WINONA LAKE – After leading Grace’s men’s basketball team to second place in the Crossroads League, senior point guard Bruce Grimm Jr. was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year.
Grimm, who also earned First Team All-League honors for the second straight year, averaged 2.0 steals per game to go along with 17.9 points and a league-best 5.5 assists.
Junior Greg Miller appeared on the league’s Second Team after producing 17.1 points and 9.2 rebounds per contest. He also made 40 percent of his 3-pointers and 54 percent of his field goals.
Senior guard Elliot Smith rounded out Grace’s league honors with an honorable mention to All-League status. Smith scored 11.5 points per game while drilling 42 percent of his shots from the 3-point line.
The Lancers host seventh-seeded Marian on Wednesday 7 p.m. for the first round of the Crossroads League Tournament. With a victory, Grace will host the CL Semifinals on Saturday against the winner of Saint Francis and Bethel.
Grace is hoping to qualify for its fifth trip in six years to the NAIA National Championships.
