Boys Hoops Pairings Set For Sunday
The IHSAA will conduct its draw for the 103rd edition of the boys basketball state tournament Sunday evening.
The pairings for postseason play will be conducted at 5 p.m. in Indianapolis. The IHSAA plans to post the sectional draw on its website at approximately 6:30 p.m.
A 90-minute show revealing the pairings and discussing them will be broadcast locally at 7 p.m. Sunday by Channel 46 (WHME-TV). The show will not be shown live by the station due to other programming commitments.
Sectional play statewide is scheduled to begin Feb. 26 at 64 sites in four classes. Sectional semifinals are scheduled for Friday, March 1 with sectional championship games on Saturday, March 2. Regionals, featuring four teams, will be played on Saturday, March 9 with one-game semi states on Saturday, March 16. The State Finals will be contested Saturday, March 23.
Area sectional hosts are Elkhart Central (North Side Gym) in Class 4-A, Wawasee and Norwell in Class 3-A and Culver and Hamilton in Class 1-A.
Warsaw will compete in the sectional at Elkhart, where No. 10 Concord is the hands-down favorite this year. Elkhart Memorial is the defending champion in the Central Sectional, which also includes Northridge, Goshen and the host Blue Blazers.
Tippecanoe Valley, ranked No. 9, headlines the six-team field at Wawasee. NorthWood is the defending champion. Whitko will play at Norwell, where the hosts are the defending champion.
Triton will look to defend its sectional title at Culver in Class 1-A. Lakeland Christian Academy will make its first-ever appearance in the state tournament at the Hamilton Sectional.
Area sectional champions would advance to play in regionals at Michigan City (4-A), Blackford (3-A) and Triton (1-A). The northern semi states will be played at Huntington North and Lafayette Jeff.
The four State Finals games will be played at Banker Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, home of the Pacers.
