Alva Linden Mynhier
Alva Linden Mynhier, 92, of Ligonier, Ind., passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville, Ind.
He was born to Edwin and Stella (Hunt) Mynhier, Sr. on Aug. 27, 1920, in Kentucky. He married Dorothy M. Willsey on May 11, 1946.
Mr. Mynhier served his country honorably in the United States Army in WWII, having been stationed in Europe and Alaska. He was a Machinist at Essex Wire for almost 40 years. After his retirement, he worked at Owen’s Grocery Store for over 30 years. He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and loved playing cards.
He is survived by his wife; two sons: Steven (Julia) Mynhier, Sr., Wawaka, Ind.; Denis (Georgia) Mynhier, Ligonier; six grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren; a sister: Vivian ‘Peggy’ (William) Shull, Columbia City, Ind.; three brothers: Edwin (Eileen) Mynhier, Jr.; Odas (Shirley) Mynhier, Elkhart, Ind.; Charles (Inez) Mynhier, Brimfield, Ind; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Mynhier was preceded in death by a brother: Lloyd Mynhier; a sister-in-law: Helen Hunt-Mynhier; and a nephew: Anthony Mynhier.
Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Yeager Funeral Home. A rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at the funeral Home. Father Wilson Corzo will officiate. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, Ind., with full military honors.
