Trojans Post Key NSC Win

imagesLAKEVILLE – The Triton boys basketball team got a measure of revenge on LaVille Saturday night.

The Trojans, in the process, also collected a huge Northern State Conference victory.

Star senior Clay Yeo once again led the way as the Trojans topped the host Lancers 44-38 in a key conference clash.

Yeo, a Valparaiso University recruit and Indiana All-Star hopeful,  poured in a game-high 21 points as Triton improved to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the NSC. The Trojans are tied atop the league standings with both Bremen and New Prairie. Triton has already defeated New Prairie and hosts Bremen (9-6) in a huge conference game on Thursday night.

Triton has now won three in a row since losing to LaVille 50-48 in a semifinal game of the Bi-County Tournament on Jan. 18 at LaVille.

The host Lancers led the close contest Saturday night 10-9 after the opening period and 15-13 at halftime. The third period proved to be the difference as the Trojans outscored LaVille 17-8 to take a 30-23 lead.

Tanner Shepherd scored eight points, Joey Corder six and Seth Glingle five for the Trojans.

Nicholas Amor netted 15 points to lead LaVille, which drops to 11-5 overall and 3-2 in the NSC. Blake Berger had eight points for the Lancers.

Triton hosts Bremen and LaVille plays at New Prairie in league action Thursday night.
