Local Students Travel To The Big Top

Approximately 30 school buses departed from Kosciusko County elementary schools today to shuttle nearly 1,000 third-grade students to the Shrine Circus in Fort Wayne.

The buses began loading students, teachers and parent chaperones at around 8:30 a.m. Attending the Shrine Circus has been a long standing tradition for local third graders. According to Warsaw Transportation Department’s Sheryl Cook the school as been sending students for over 25 years.

  1. I can remember going to the Shrine Circus in 1963. That’s 50 years! And my sister went two years ahead of me. I wonder how long they have actually taken third graders to the Shrine Circus at Memorial Coliseum in Ft. Wayne.

    I can recall Dr. Russell Heyde (then a local dentist, school board member, and a Shriner) wearing his fez (red Shriner’s hat) and riding on our school bus.
